Book Review: The Shape Edge of Fate
It's been a long time since I have done one of these, but I loved The Sharp Edge of Fate, by TF Johnson, so much that I had to write a blog post about it.
I picked this book up from Market 3196 from the Aussie Author Book Nook on the weekend and I absolutely devoured it and now I am desperate for book 2's release.
The Sharp Edge of Fate follows Piper, aka Belladonna, a clever assassin the authorities are on the look out for. Not that Piper is worried, because she is very good at what she does. This is what I loved most about the book. Assassins in books that I have read have had a reputation for being the best, yet they keep doing stupid things that are at odds with their reputation. This is not Piper, and she is clever and strong, while also having a sympathetic side. The world feels so real, and while I read it felt like I was watching real people and I forgot that it was words on the page.
I don't want to say any more because I don't want to spoil anything. Suffice to say, if you're looking for a gaslamp fantasy that will not disappoint, this is the book for you.
Seriously, go read it. It's soooo good.
