From the Blurb:
Join Captain Binky as she goes on another exciting adventure!
Discover how brave Captain Binky really is as she travels through bustling cities and airports to find her new home. See how she stands up for herself and comforts her travel companion, Jude, on their big flight.
Fly with Captain Binky as she jets home on an aeroplane, where she explores her curious new surroundings and has some scary encounters.
Real photo's of her new home are included in the book, because Captain Binky is a real cat, but her story is sprinkled with imagination.
About the Author:
Cal lives in Sydney, Australia where she writes children’s adventure books full time. Cal’s inspiration for her stories comes from her outdoor ventures, hiking, paddle-boarding, and her love of travelling.
More About Cal Grant-Smith:
How long does it take you to write a book? How long does each stage of the process usually take?
Overall, it takes a year from beginning to end. I like to give myself six months for writing time, and six months for editing, cover design and proofreading before the book is ready for publication.

What is your favourite type of character to write?
Brave young children who triumph over adversity with resilience and tenacity.

What do you do when you find yourself in a bit of a writing rut? Is there any strategy you find works for you to help the words start flowing again?
I find getting out into nature always gets my creativity flowing again. Whether I’m walking, paddle-boarding or just admiring nature itself, I’m guaranteed of a fresh perspective of my work.
*
What is something you wish you had known earlier on in your writing career?
I wish I could have known that the first draft is not the last; it would have relieved so much anxiety of getting it just right, for me.
*
Do you mine your own life for ideas, settings and/or characters?
With Binky’s story, I definitely gained ideas from real-life. She’s a real cat and I had the privilege of visiting her in her new home overseas, which is when the idea for her story struck.

What's next for your writing?
I have a YA fantasy coming out early next year. The manuscript is complete and I’m now in the polishing and refining stages. It’s called Forest of Sun and Shadows.
